A BREEAM-certified logistics hub - 22 February 2012
Pitch Promotion has selected GIRUS and architect SAGL to provide design and construction supervision services for a BREEAM-certified logistics hub in Compans (France).
BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment) certification was launched in the UK in 1990 to evaluate and improve the environmental performance of buildings. It is equivalent to the French “HQE” certification. It bases its assessment on topics such as building site management, impacts of the construction phase, construction waste management, and monitoring of energy consumption during the construction phase and then during operation of the buildings.
This 20,000 m² project had committed to achieving a “Good” certification level. The hub is designed to operate round the clock on completion, and will comprise three storage cells, 1,600 m² of offices as well as a plot of land available for future construction.
GIRUS worked on the following contract lots: HVAC, plumbing, electricity and site access control. In the context of the BREEAM approach, domestic hot water for the offices will be heated by solar power, rainwater will be recovered, and the building will be equipped with water leak detectors. The whole site will be supervised by a Centralised Technical Management system, to optimise energy consumption management.
