“Zero Waste – Zero Wastage” Region: a new engineering field - 17 février 2016
In the context of a call for proposals published by the French Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy, the Household and Similar Waste Collection and Treatment Authority (Sirdomdi) of Beaupréau-en-Mauges in western France was selected to be a “Zero Waste – Zero Wastage” Region, and is committed to implementing a Circular Economy Waste Objective Contract in partnership with the French Environment and Energy Management Agency (ADEME).
Girus helped the authority define an action plan aiming to develop the circular economy in its region and, in this context, to consider waste as a resource. The action programme for the next three years has been drawn up jointly with the local players involved. It comprises 33 actions based on the 7 pillars of the circular economy: sustainable procurement, eco-design, industrial and regional ecology, functional service economy, responsible consumption, longer usage times, and recovery of resources.
Girus is proud to have been among the first to complete this type of assignment. The innovative nature of this project lies more in the approach that was adopted than in the nature of the assignment itself. Our teams developed expertise in the stakeholder consultation process in order to achieve a jointly developed programme. This adaptation was deemed a great success.actualité suivante » « actualité précédente
